Jenaya McGowan Zarrad has held a variety of roles in the education and fintech industries. In 2020, they joined E4 Youth as a Board Member and Development & Operations Manager. In 2022, they became Head of People & Culture at StellarFi. From 2017-2022, they were VP of People & Culture and Director of Communications & Community Engagement at Joust. From 2016-2017, they were Director of Communications & Government Affairs at Tokken, where they developed strategic internal and external communications. From 2013-2016, they were a Student Success Advocate & College Counselor at the Colorado Department of Higher Education, where they advised students and formed programming partnerships. From 2008-2013, they were an Academic Advisor for the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at The University of Texas at Austin Division of Diversity and Community Engagement, where they mentored students and crafted workshops.
Jenaya McGowan Zarrad obtained a B.A. in Africana Studies, with a minor in Cultural Anthropology, from the University of Northern Colorado between 2002 and 2008. Jenaya then went on to earn an MGPS in Global Policy Studies: Global Governance from The LBJ School of Public Affairs between 2008 and 2010. In 2012, they obtained a Nonprofit Studies certification from the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at The University of Texas Austin.
