Julian Kuhlmann

Manager, Principal Data Scientist at Stem

Julian Kuhlmann has a significant amount of technical experience. Julian began their career as an intern at CESBIO Toulouse, where they conducted research on El Niño impacts and remote sensing methods. Julian then joined the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology as a Diplomand, focusing on aerosol impacts on the Asian Summer Monsoon. Julian later worked at GFZ Potsdam as a PhD student, using simulation models to analyze sea level and ocean currents. At Younicos, they served as a Developer, designing optimization algorithms for energy management systems and developing control algorithms for a commercial battery power plant. Julian then joined Greenlots as a Senior Algorithm Developer before assuming roles at Stem, Inc., where they worked as a Senior Data Scientist, Principal Data Scientist, and currently holds the position of Manager, Principal Data Scientist.

Julian Kuhlmann has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physical Oceanography from Freie Universität Berlin, which was completed from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, they studied at TU Dortmund University from 2003 to 2009, earning a Diplom (M.Sc.) in Physics. Additionally, they spent a year at Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III from 2006 to 2007, focusing on Science de l'Atmosphère et Océanographie.
