Kevin O'Hara has over 30 years of experience in radiation physics and radiation processing. Kevin began their career as a Research Assistant in medical physics and laser optics at various institutions, including the Ontario Cancer Foundation and the National Research Council of Canada. Kevin then worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Western Ontario and a Proctor and Examination Marker at Wilfrid Laurier University.
In 1987, O'Hara joined Nordion, where they held various roles, including Senior Radiation Physicist and Technical Manager. Kevin was responsible for research and development in radiation dosimetry, as well as the sales and management of production irradiators used for sterilizing healthcare products, pharmaceuticals, and food. In 2010, they transitioned to the role of Production Irradiator Sales Manager, overseeing global production equipment sales and refurbishments.
In 2013, O'Hara joined Sterigenics as the Director of Radiation Physics. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining and calibrating the dosimetry system, developing and implementing IQ/OQ/PQ processes for irradiators, conducting incident investigations, and promoting Sterigenics in radiation processing through industry organizations.
Throughout their career, O'Hara has also contributed to the field through publications and presentations, including topics such as calibration irradiations, mathematical modeling, and absorbed-dose measurements.
Kevin O'Hara completed their B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Physics at Western University from 1982 to 1985. Prior to that, they studied Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics at Wilfrid Laurier University from 1980 to 1982.
