Laurel Kent

Laurie Kent is Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor, at RBC Wealth Management - a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada. She has been in the financial services industry since 1983, focusing on providing sophisticated financial advice and guidance to high net worth families, corporate executives and institutional clients. Laurie began her career at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc., continuing when the Legg Mason Investment Advisory Services were acquired by Smith Barney. In 2009, she moved her team to RBC Wealth Management.

Prior to entering the financial services field, she held management positions at Southern Railway Systems, the United States Railway Association, Deloitte Haskins and Sells, and the Federal Railroad Administration.

In 1972, Kent was a founder of the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS), an organization helping women find opportunity and recognition in the transportation industry. She played the leading role in guiding the growth of WTS into a nationwide organization, and became its first national president in 1978.

Kent received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Stetson University in 1968 and a Master of Arts degree in economics from the University of Florida in 1970. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Tyson's Corner.

As chair of the College of Arts and Sciences Board of Advisors from 2015 – 2019, she served as an ex officio member of the Board of Trustees. She was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2019.
