Marieke van Bommel

Marieke van Bommel is an experienced professional in the museum and cultural sector, currently serving as the Algemeen directeur of the Nationaal Museum van Wereldculturen at Wereldmuseum since January 2022. Prior to this role, Marieke held the position of directeur at MAS|Museum aan de Stroom in Stad Antwerpen from February 2015 to January 2022. Additional contributions include being a member of the adviescommissie Museale collecties en erfgoed for the Rotterdamse Raad voor Kunst en Cultuur from November 2019 to October 2020, and moderating workshops on Culture and Heritage for the EU-LAC Foundation in 2019. Marieke's early career includes significant roles at Maritiem Museum Rotterdam, where responsibilities ranged from Executive Director to Manager of Customer Care and Education. Educational background includes a master's degree in Organization studies from Tilburg University and cultural studies from the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten.
