Guido Steinberg is an accomplished scholar specializing in Islamic studies and terrorism research, currently serving as an Islamwissenschaftler at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs since October 2005. With extensive experience in providing expert consultations on international politics to key decision-makers, including the Bundestag and the federal government, Steinberg has also acted as a consultant in terrorism trials for German and US courts from 2006 to September 2020. Prior work includes serving as a terrorism expert and specialist for counter-terrorism at the Bundeskanzleramt from January 2002 to September 2005, and as a research associate at the Freie Universität Berlin in 2000. Steinberg's educational background includes a doctorate in Islamic studies from the Freie Universität Berlin, a Magister Artium from the University of Cologne, and a language diploma from the Universität Damaskus.
