David S. Layton

President & CEO, Layton Construction at STO Building Group

David S. Layton was raised in the construction industry, mentored by his father who started Layton Construction Company in 1953. Over the past 15 years, David has served as President and CEO of Layton Construction Company and oversees several Layton ventures, in addition to his own personal real estate development interests. Layton has offices in eleven regional markets across the country, due largely in part to David’s drive and commitment to outstanding service. Currently recognized as the 44th largest commercial construction company in the United States by Engineering News-Record, Layton’s impact upon the construction industry in the Intermountain West and nationally is not only noteworthy but further proof of his dedication to excellence.

David received a civil engineering degree from Brigham Young University in 1988 and earned a Harvard University Business School Executive Management Certificate in 2000 after completing an extensive three-year program with top executives from around the world.

Furthermore, he has served as a National Director with Associated General Contractors (AGC) and was founding co-chair for AGC’s Young Constructor Forum. He is a member of the American Concrete Institute and currently serves on the boards of the Utah Sports Commission, the Hale Centre Theatre, and Zions Bank. David’s service at the University of Utah is also significant, as he serves on the University’s National Advisory Council, the National Athletics Advisory Board, the College of Engineering National Advisory Council, and as a member of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department Industry Advisory Board. He previously served on the boards of the Huntsman Cancer Foundation and the University Healthcare Foundation, as well as the University Healthcare Board of Trustees.
