Mr. Dennis Olaniyi started his nursing career as both a Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA) and Certified Medicine Aid (CMA) with Genesis Healthcare three decades ago. While working as a CNA, Dennis developed special interest in the care of older adults and decided to acquire more knowledge. He later became a Licensed Practical Nurse while still working at Genesis. His curiosity and quest for more knowledge led him to Howard University School of Nursing where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in nursing, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Valedictorian. Dennis left Genesis and joined the Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home in 2002 as the MDS coordinator; a position he held for eight years. As a result of his commitment and leadership skills, Dennis was promoted to the position of Director of Nursing (DON) in 2010 and later to the facility’s Senior DON in 2017. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership at Western Governors University. During his tenure as Director and Senior Director of Nursing, the facility obtained and maintained a five-star rating from Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for several years continuously. In addition to having an illustrious nursing career, Mr. Olaniyi is also a member of the Leading Age class of 2018 Academy Fellows. He is a computer engineer who is certified as a Cisco and Microsoft engineer. Mr. Olaniyi is married with four children.
