Jake Larkin has a wealth of work experience that spans from 2012 to 2022. In 2012, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at The Ohio State University, working with Dr. Jason Dreyer and Michael Krak in the Vibrations and Acoustics Laboratory. The following year, they were an Interiors Engineer Intern at Boeing, where they gained experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, design for manufacturing, process optimization, and received a CATIA certification. In 2014, they were an AFRL Scholar Research Associate at the Air Force Research Laboratory, and a Graduate Research Associate at The Ohio State University. At the Air Force Research Laboratory, they created a 12+ parameter sampling space in MATLAB, a FEM deformation scheme in Fortran and CFD scripts in Fun3D to capture the CFD and FEM relationship for the fluid-thermal-structural interactions of a 3D, hypersonic vehicle. At The Ohio State University, they modeled the fluid, thermal and structural responses of surface panels in hypersonic flow for defense development. In 2015, they were a Project Management Lead at Designli, a mobile app development startup, and Owner and Problem Solver at Jetrail Development, a web development company. In 2016, they were a Mechanical Engineer at Crane Aerospace & Electronics, working in the Sensors and Systems division. From 2017 to 2022, they were a Sr. Manager, Manager, and Assembly, Integration and Test Engineer at Spaceflight Inc., and in 2022 they became a Payload Operations Architect at Stoke Space.
Jake Larkin obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2014, after starting their studies in 2010. Jake then went on to earn a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2015. In addition, Jake obtained a certification in CATIA from Boeing in July 2013 and a certification in Lean Design from Gulfstream Aerospace in June 2012.
