Louis Roddam, a Senior Adviser with StoneTurn, has more than 20 years of experience as a financial crime risk professional. A former regulator with the U.K. Financial Conduct Authority, Louis brings significant expertise in corporate compliance, regulatory inquiries and forensic investigations, as well as in-depth knowledge of the financial services and insurance industries.
Prior to his work with StoneTurn, Louis was Group Head of Financial Crime at Towergate Insurance. There, he was accountable for second-line financial crime risk and control oversight, policy ownership, technical advice and incident response for fraud, anti-money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions, bribery, corruption and tax evasion. During his tenure with Towergate, Louis also designed and implemented an enterprise-wide financial crime governance and operating framework, including new policies, procedures, risk and control assessments, issue escalation processes and targeted training for higher risk individuals.
Throughout his career, Louis has led internal investigations into employee fraud and data theft incidents, resulting in disciplinary proceedings, control enhancements and suspicious activity reporting. Specifically, he led two anti-money laundering project assurance reviews and assisted the Group Financial Crime Assurance team of a major U.K. retail bank in re-designing its financial crime assurance testing methodology. Louis also led FCA financial crime supervision visit preparations at a major U.K. retail bank, including policy review, staff briefings, mock interviews and system walkthroughs, which resulted in a positive regulatory outcome for the bank.
As a regulator at the Financial Conduct Authority (f/k/a U.K. Financial Services Authority), Louis led forensic reviews into suspected regulatory misconduct relating to systems and controls in the retail banking industry.
