Dr. Paul Aitken has a wealth of experience in the healthcare industry. Paul Aitken MD MPH currently serves as the Chief of Population Health and Associate Dean for Clinical Integration at Stony Brook Medicine. Prior to this role, they worked as a Healthcare Transformation Consultant at CQI Clinical Transformation Consultants. Paul Aitken MD MPH also held the position of Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Population Health at AvMed, a health maintenance organization.

Before joining AvMed, Dr. Aitken was the Chief Medical and Clinical Transformation Officer at GEHA Health. Paul Aitken MD MPH played a crucial role in leading medical and clinical transformation efforts within the organization. Additionally, they served as a Senior Medical Director for Clinical Transformation and Clinical Services & Solutions at Aetna, where they were responsible for optimizing provider networks and improving the quality and cost of member care.

Dr. Aitken's career also includes positions at Penn State Health and UNC Health Care. At Penn State Health, they were the Residency Program Director for Family and Community Medicine, overseeing the accreditation and administration of the program. At UNC Health Care, they served as the Director of Rural Community Medicine, focusing on enhancing the quality of care and healthcare outcomes in Southeastern North Carolina.

Throughout their career, Dr. Aitken has implemented innovative population health management initiatives, incorporating evidence-based medicine, population-based medicine, continuous quality improvement, and medical information management to improve measurable health outcomes at the population level.

Paul Aitken MD MPH CPE FAAFP holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, with a focus on Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Paul Aitken MD MPH also completed a Public Health & Preventive Medicine Fellowship at Stony Brook University. In addition, they completed a Family & Community Medicine Residency at Duke University and an Obstetrics & Gynecology Internship at NYU and Bellevue through New York University. Dr. Aitken holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physician Assistant studies from The City College of New York.
