Stephan Walter

Vice President, Head Of Technology Lignode at Stora Enso

Stephan Walter has extensive work experience in various roles and responsibilities. Stephan began their career at RWTH Aachen University, where they held positions such as Head Engineer and Team Lead in fiber extrusion technology. During their time at the university, they also pursued a Ph.D. program alongside full-time research.

In 2013, Stephan joined Stora Enso, starting as a Technical Project Lead and later transitioning to an Innovation Project Manager role. Stephan then became a Business Development Manager and eventually the Director of Emerging Business, where they were responsible for creating and growing the emerging business around bio-based carbons for energy storage applications. Their responsibilities also included managing the technology identification, setting up production facilities, and expanding the customer base.

Currently, Stephan holds the position of Vice President and Head of Technology Lignode at Stora Enso.

Stephan Walter completed their Promotion/Dissertation in Maschinenbau from 2008 to 2012. Stephan obtained a Dr.-Ing. degree during this time. From 2016 to 2017, they attended IMD where they pursued an Open executive business education program, focusing on Building on Talent. Prior to that, they studied at RWTH Aachen University from 2000 to 2007, earning a Diplom degree in Maschinenbau. In 2019, they participated in a Customized Program at Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development, specializing in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies.
