John Yen has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. John is the CEO & Co-Founder of StoryJumper, an Education AI platform that aims to empower students, teachers, and parents to become published authors. Prior to that, they founded a social collaboration company called 21 Dads, where they developed innovative products such as litbit and ThoughtsandPrayers using user-centered design and Lean Startup principles. John also served as the Director of Product Management at Plaxo, overseeing social media products that reached millions of users. Before that, at Cisco Systems, they co-founded the industry's first network-integrated, enterprise content delivery product line and managed a successful product team. Additionally, they held the role of a Business Development Manager in M&A and Investments at Cisco. John started their career as an Investment Banker at Robertson, Stephens, & Co., where they gained experience in M&A and corporate finance, particularly in the software, networking, and biotechnology sectors.

John Yen attended Monta Vista HS from 1985 to 1989. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley from 1989 to 1993. After completing their undergraduate studies, they furthered their education at Stanford University, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from 1993 to 1994.
