Aliaa Remtilla

Co-founder & Chief Scientist at StoryTiling

Aliaa Remtilla has an extensive work experience. Aliaa is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of StoryTiling since 2021. From 2017 to 2021, they were the Executive Officer at Social Development Inc. (Aga Khan Council for Australia and New Zealand). As Executive Officer, they developed a 3-year strategy and short-term objectives, designed budget according to objectives and developed and managed monitoring & evaluation strategy. Aliaa also designed and implemented organizational structure change to increase the capacity to achieve desired outcomes. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Research Consultant at The Institute of Ismaili Studies where they conducted 2-years research to analyse implications of inter-faith marriage in Portugal, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Tanzania. Aliaa also conducted research and wrote a consolidated report on history of the Jamatkhana in East Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Scholar at ITREB USA where they drafted triennial accomplishments, challenges & objectives report and directed research teams of 3-5 experts to propose engagement strategies with academia, policy institutions and media. From 2012 to 2013, they were the Interim Office Manager at Kabyer Remtilla & Co where they managed the accounting firm's 10 staff and hired 2 new staff. Aliaa also processed accounts payable, receivable and payroll. From 2007 to 2012, they were a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Manchester where they taught Religious Studies and Anthropology B.A. and M.

Aliaa Remtilla attended Harvard University from 2001 to 2005, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Visual and Environmental Studies. Aliaa then went on to The University of Manchester, where they earned a Master's Degree in Social Anthropology in 2006-2007. In 2007-2012, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Anthropology with Visual Media at The University of Manchester.
