Dan Hovelson

Director of Bioinformatics at Strata Oncology

Dan Hovelson has had a long and varied career in the field of bioinformatics. Dan began their career in 2006 as a Research Assistant/Project Manager at Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma. In 2008, they moved to Boston University School of Public Health as a SAS Programmer. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Research Analyst and Graduate Student Research Assistant at the Center for Statistical Genetics, University of Michigan. In 2013, they began their PhD Candidate role at the Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics, University of Michigan. In 2017, they became a Bioinformatics Scientist at the University of Michigan. Finally, in 2018, they joined Strata Oncology, where they have held the roles of Director of Bioinformatics, Senior Bioinformatics Manager, Bioinformatics Manager, and Senior Bioinformatician.

Dan Hovelson completed their Bachelor of Arts in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2004. Dan then continued their education at the University of Michigan, where they earned their Master of Science in Biostatistics in 2012, and their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics in 2017.
