Kris Fruin has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering industry. They have held various roles in different companies throughout their career. Kris started their career in 2000 at Husky Energy, where they worked as a Process Engineer before transitioning into the role of Facilities Engineer and later becoming a Project Engineer for the Caribou SAGD Project. In 2008, they moved on to work as a Project Engineer at Tridyne Projects Corporation. They then joined Christiansen Engineering Group Ltd. in 2009, where they worked as a Project Engineer for a brief period before joining KBC Advanced Technologies as an Associate. In the same year, Kris joined Petrobank as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer. From 2012 to 2015, they worked as a Senior Facilities Engineer at Grizzly Oil Sands ULC. In 2016, they took on multiple roles, including Construction Project Engineer and Construction Engineering Lead at Serafina Energy Ltd. They also briefly worked as a Cashier/Clerk at Calgary Co-op and an Enumerator at Statistics Canada during the same year. Kris's most recent position is as a Senior Facilities Engineer at Strathcona Resources Ltd. which they started in 2022.
Kris Fruin obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan - College of Engineering between 1995 and 2000. Later, in 2015 to 2016, Kris pursued Continuing Education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and completed a Power Engineering Fourth Class program.
