Seamus Murphy has a diverse work experience in the oil and gas industry. Seamus started their career in 2000 as a Lead Operator at Encana Corporation, where they were responsible for operating the CLAWR for Athabasca Gas and overseeing a production peak of 210mmcf/d with vast infrastructure. In 2007, they joined Imperial Oil Canada/EnCana/Small Cap as a Wellsite Supervisor/Operations Consultant.
Murphy then joined Cenovus Energy in 2009, initially as a Production Coordinator and later as a Group Lead for NRP Oil Sands Pilot Projects. In this role, they managed the operations for Oil Sands New Ventures Pilot Projects, including the Telephone Lake DWT and SAGD development, as well as the Osprey CSS project.
In 2014, Murphy worked at Primus Oilfield Consulting as an Operations Consultant, where they took on numerous consulting roles in oil and gas facilities consulting, production optimization, evaluation, development, and project execution.
From 2015 to 2017, Murphy served as a Superintendent at Cona Resources Ltd., before joining Strathcona Resources Ltd. in 2017 as a Senior Operations Manager for the Heavy Oil Portfolio. Currently, their tenure at Strathcona Resources Ltd. is ongoing.
Seamus Murphy attended NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician. In addition, they have obtained additional certifications including BOP Tickets - First Line from Enform and Caterpillar Natural Gas Engines 1&2 from Caterpillar Inc.
