Asaf Mesika

Principal Engineer at StreamNative

Asaf Mesika has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Asaf is currently working at StreamNative as a Principal Engineer, focusing on making Apache Pulsar even better. In this role, they have researched and designed solutions for metrics cardinality and proposed important suggestions in the area of OpenTelemetry.

Before joining StreamNative, Asaf co-founded Tech Leads IL in 2018, a platform for Tech Leads in Israel to discuss work-related challenges and improve themselves and their workplaces.

From 2015 to 2022, Asaf worked at Logz.io, where they held various roles including Core Developer, Backend Enablement Tech Lead & Backend Guild Master, Chief Architect, and Architect. Asaf was involved in projects such as the development of Logz.io Metrics product, steering the TSDB selection process, and implementing the Prometheus Remote Write protocol.

Prior to Logz.io, Asaf worked at Akamai Technologies from 2012 to 2015 as a Senior Big Data Developer. Asaf played a key role in architecting and implementing a Big Data platform capable of ingesting 6 TB of data per day. Asaf also contributed to design decisions, built prototypes, and wrote innovative libraries for HBase and the Big Data ecosystem.

From 2009 to 2012, Asaf was an End-to-End Java Developer at Cotendo, where they worked on clustered web application development, site monitoring services, and architecture design.

Before that, they worked at WorkLight from 2007 to 2009 as an Experienced Java Developer, focusing on server-side and client-side enterprise application development.

At IAF, Asaf held multiple roles from 2000 to 2007, including Senior Programmer for Development Tools, Senior Data Warehouse Programmer, and Application Infrastructure Programmer. Asaf worked on various projects involving build process optimization, data warehouse development, and application interface engine development.

Overall, Asaf Mesika has a strong technical background and has contributed significantly to the development of various software products and platforms throughout their career.

Asaf Mesika received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. Asaf completed their undergraduate studies in the field of Computer Science from 1997 to 2000. Following this, Asaf pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the same institution's Business School. Asaf obtained their MBA from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology between the years 2001 and 2003.
