Kathleen Ferraro has had a varied and extensive career in media and communications. Kathleen began their career in 2014 as an Editor at iFLIP4, where they reported and wrote stories focused on various social justice issues targeted at a millennial audience, managed and edited an editorial team of 10 writers, and played a lead editorial role in a rapidly growing startup. That same year, they also worked as a Communications and Membership Coordinator and Writing and Reporting Intern for the Niagara Foundation, where they managed their Facebook and Twitter accounts, contributed content to their e-newsletter, facilitated cross-cultural and interreligious discussion between members of Chicago's diverse communities, and reported, researched, wrote, interviewed, and edited original articles for their blog. In 2015, they joined the Medill News Service as a Science Reporter. In 2016, they worked as a Senior Science Communications Specialist for the Institute for Translational Medicine, where they reported and wrote accurate, public-friendly articles on Chicago medical research, discoveries, and innovations, and shot and edited video and photo stories about medical breakthroughs and the people behind them. Kathleen also worked as a Staff Writer for Great Lakes Boating Magazine, where they edited and fact checked features, news and multimedia for the magazine, and assisted with the magazine's transition from print to digital, reinventing the publication's digital advertising strategy. In 2020, they joined Byrdie as a Contributing Writer. In 2021, they became an Associate Health Editor for Livestrong.com and a Contributing Writer for Bustle Digital Group. Kathleen currently serves as an Associate Board Member for the Chicago Media Project.

Kathleen Ferraro began their educational journey in 2007, when they graduated from Visitation School and Convent with a High School Diploma and distinction in Visual Arts. Kathleen then attended Northwestern University from 2011 to 2014, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology, International Studies, and Global Health Studies. In 2013, they also attended University College Cork for Epidemiology and Public Health and Anthropology. In 2015, they returned to Northwestern University to pursue a Master's degree in Journalism, which they completed in 2016. In 2014, they obtained a CITI Training Certification from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative Program.
