Zexi Mao

Zexi Mao is an experienced engineering manager specializing in machine learning, currently serving at Stripe since February 2024. Previously, Zexi held a similar role at Meta from August 2022 to September 2023, contributing to the Recommendation CoreML Retrieval Team, which focused on advanced retrieval models for platforms like Instagram Reels and Facebook. At PayPal, from July 2018 to July 2022, Zexi led the Consumer ML team, delivering machine learning solutions across several domains, and also served as a staff machine learning engineer, where Zexi played a pivotal role in developing the initial TopRank recommendation system. Earlier experiences include a position as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Jetlore, where Zexi was instrumental in creating real-time recommendation models, and a Graduate Research Assistant role at Carnegie Mellon University. Zexi holds a Master of Science in Machine Learning and Language Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from Zhejiang University.
