Cody Dirks has a diverse work experience spanning from 2012 to present. Cody started their career as a Graduate Astronomy Teaching Assistant at Northwestern University, where they held multiple teaching assistant roles for undergraduate physics and astronomy courses. Cody also participated in the Curriculum Design Team of an NSF-IUSE grant, contributing to the development of an online platform for introductory astronomy courses.

Dirks then served as a Graduate Research Assistant at Northwestern University, conducting research on the interstellar medium using data from ground- and space-based telescopes. Cody worked with ultraviolet spectral data from the Hubble Space Telescope and studied the dynamics and potential star formation sites of the interstellar medium.
