Jonathan Furse has extensive work experience in technology and leadership roles. Jonathan is currently the Chief Technology Officer at Substantive Research Ltd since 2020. Prior to this, they worked at the Financial Times for over 15 years in various positions. From 2017 to 2019, they served as the Technical Director of Platforms, responsible for the operation and strategic direction of the FT's technology platform. Jonathan was also the Head of Platform for Membership from 2015 to 2017, Technical Architect from 2013 to 2015, and Technical Lead from 2005 to 2013. Before joining the Financial Times, Jonathan worked as a Consultant at Ciber from 1999 to 2005.
Jonathan Furse completed their education at the University of Bath, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry from 1993 to 1997. Later, they pursued further studies at the same university, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Computer Science from 1997 to 1998. In addition to their formal education, Jonathan has also obtained several certifications, including "Structuring Machine Learning Projects," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," and "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization" from Coursera. Jonathan achieved these certifications in October and December of 2019.
