Sofya Chikivchuk

Technician, R&D at Sudoc

As a Technician in the Research & Development division, Sofya manages synthesis process development for the production of TAML and analytical chemistry for how TAML is used in a wide variety of applications. She works in tandem with Ben Barnhart on the synthesis and directly with Sudoc’s R&D Director Matt Mills on analysis. In 2022, Sofya received her B.S. degree in biochemistry from Sacramento State University where engaged in protein and forensic biology research. There she developed the skills to plan an organized scientific study with significant freedom to carry her research from beginning to the end. A year before graduating, Sofya was accepted as an intern into an analytical chemistry lab in Sacramento, CA which in three months became a part-time position. Sofya prepared extractions for HPLC and analyzed samples for toxic chemicals like polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) found in oil. With her experience in research and passion for making the environment better, Sofya found an ideal fit with Sudoc.
