Edward F. Plow

Edward F. Plow, Ph.D., currently serves as Chair of the Department of Molecular Cardiology and holder of the Robert C. Tarazi, MD, Endowed Chair in Heart and Hypertension Research at Cleveland Clinic. His lab has been engaged in studies of various aspects of vascular biology for more than 40 years, with particular areas of emphasis on integrins and their extracellular matrix ligands. Dr. Plow is a recipient of the Distinguished Career Award from the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and served as chair of the Council of this society and of the Council of Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology of the American Heart Association. He was recently honored by the International Society for Fibrinolysis and Proteolysis (ISFP) for his outstanding contributions to fibrinolysis and proteolysis research throughout his career. In 2008, Dr. Plow received an honorary doctoral degree from the Medical University of Lodz in Poland and in 2013, he was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
