Avionics System Engineer at Sumaria Systems

April Icard has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. April started their career as an Embedded Engineer at L-3 Maritime Systems, where they supported the PMA-290 Software Support Activity on the Multistatics Active Coherent Anti-Submarine Warfare Project. April closely collaborated with testers and developers to schedule test events and generate test procedures.

After their role at L-3 Maritime Systems, April joined Engility Corporation as a P-3/P-8 Fleet Software Support Lead. In this position, they served as the direct liaison for the P-3 and P-8 VP communities, ensuring that software issues and trouble reports were properly addressed and stored for future reference.

April then worked at GE Aviation as an Engineer/Technologist, where they gained experience in the field of aviation. April later became an Engineering Project Manager, responsible for managing projects at the company.

Following their time at GE Aviation, April joined Spectrum Health as a Senior Project Manager in the Enterprise Project Management Office. April worked on various projects during their tenure.

April also had extensive experience in the U.S. Navy Reserve. April served as an Executive Officer for NR NAS Sigonella Installations Command and later as an Executive Officer, leading over 30 joint service personnel in aiding DLA Disposition Services. Additionally, they held roles as a Naval Cargo Handling Battalion Eleven Air Cargo Officer in Charge and Operations Officer at Defense Logistics Agency - Disposition Services.

In their most recent position at Sumaria Systems, Inc., April served as an Avionics System Engineer for the Air Force's MQ-9 (Reaper) Program. April was the lead engineer on the Pioneer TACSIT program, monitoring and generating requirements in JIRA based on customer input. April also provided subject matter expertise to programs involved in Open Mission Systems.

Throughout their career, April has demonstrated strong leadership skills, mentorship abilities, and the capability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Their experience spans engineering, project management, and military operations.

April Icard obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from the United States Naval Academy in the years 2004 to 2008. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from Penn State University, from 2015 to 2016. In addition to their education, April Icard holds a Top Secret Security Clearance from the United States Department of Defense.
