João Cavaleiro

João Cavaleiro is a microbiology expert with extensive experience in laboratory management and scientific publishing. Currently serving as the Head of the Microbiology Lab at Sumol+Compal since May 2017, João has also been a Technical Editor for ARP Rheumatology since June 2006, overseeing the editorial process of an international peer-reviewed journal. As a co-founder and Production Manager at Gumelo Lda. from January 2012 to December 2021, João managed exotic mushroom production and conducted research and development. Additional experience includes teaching Food Quality Control Technicians at ISLA from December 2008 to January 2013 and serving as Co-Head of the Food Quality Control Department at Laboratório de Medicina Veterinária from March 2008 to May 2011. Academic qualifications include a degree in Microbiology and Genetics from Faculdade Ciências da Universidade Lisboa and an internship in Molecular Biology at Université libre de Bruxelles.
