Pavel Kalaidin

From 2005 to 2012, Pavel Kalaidin worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Motorola and later at Motorola Mobility. From 2013 to 2015, they served as a Data Scientist and Quantitative Analyst at Segmento/RuTarget. Pavel joined VK.com in 2015 and held various roles, including Lead Data Scientist, where they implemented multiple machine learning models and led the newsfeed team from 2016 to 2018. Pavel then became the Head of Applied Research, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence and Director of AI Research until January 2020. From November 2019 to December 2020, they were the Head of VK AI Lab at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. In November 2020, they joined Tinkoff Bank as the Director of Artificial Intelligence until May 2022. Currently, they are the Head of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning at Sumsub.

Pavel Kalaidin completed their MS in Computer Science with summa cum laude from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University between 2001 and 2007. Pavel also studied Chinese at the Confucius Institute in St. Petersburg from 2015 to 2016 and Japanese at the Japanese Center in St. Petersburg from 2010 to 2014.
