Katarzyna Barczewska

Head of Research and Development at Cardiomatics

Katarzyna Barczewska began their work experience in 2012 as a Research and Teaching Assistant at AGH University of Science and Technology. During this time, they focused on research projects, specifically their PhD thesis on an automatic gesture recognition system for people with cerebral palsy. Katarzyna proposed a system that adapted hand gesture models to user-specific gestures using Parallel Hidden Markov Models. Katarzyna also developed a demo-app to demonstrate the adaptation of models to user-specific hand gestures. In 2018, they joined Cardiomatics as the Head of Research and Development. Additionally, they briefly worked as a Visiting Researcher at Nagoya Institute of Technology in the same year.

Katarzyna Barczewska completed their PhD in Biomedical Engineering from AGH University of Krakow, which they attended from 2011 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications in the field of machine learning and deep learning. In November 2018, they completed the "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" certification through Coursera. Katarzyna further expanded their knowledge by obtaining certifications in "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter Tuning, Regularization and Optimization", "Structuring Machine Learning Projects", "Convolutional Neural Networks", "Sequence Models", and most recently in January 2021, "Deep Learning Specialization". These additional certifications demonstrate their commitment to enhancing their expertise in machine learning and deep learning.
