Peter Shankel

Peter Shankel is an experienced professional in the energy sector, currently serving as General Manager of Drilling and Completions at Suncor Energy since 2012, overseeing projects in Western Canada, Offshore Norway, Canada, and the UK. Prior to that, Peter held the position of Vice President of North America Drilling and Completions at Talisman Energy from 2010 to 2012, focusing on shale and conventional oil projects across Western Canada, Pennsylvania, and West Texas. Peter's extensive background at Encana Corporation from 1997 to 2010 includes roles such as Drilling Manager for Canada's first offshore subsea and sour gas project in Nova Scotia, Project Manager for the exploration and appraisal phase of a heavy oil offshore development in Brazil, and Chief Drilling Engineer for various operated and non-operated wells in regions including Libya, the Gulf of Mexico, and Western Canada. Peter holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mining and Petroleum Technologies from Dalhousie University and a Diploma in Engineering from St. Mary's University.
