Melissa Bowers

Melissa Bowers, PHR has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Melissa started their career at MCI Communications as a Sales and Event Manager in 2002. Then, they worked as an Office Manager at Leavitt Group from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, Melissa held two roles simultaneously: Recruitment Coordinator at Southwest Conservation Corps and Research and Boarder Mitigation Specialist at U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Melissa then became a Volunteer and Internship Administrator at The Living Planet Aquarium from 2008 to 2013. Melissa joined Event Network, Inc. as an Assistant Director from 2013 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they worked at Sundance Institute as the Manager of the Volunteer Program and later, as the Senior Manager of the Volunteer and Internship Program until 2018. Their next role at Sundance Institute was Assistant Director of Volunteer and Internship Resources from 2018 to 2020. Most recently, Melissa has been serving as the Associate Director of Human Resources at Sundance Institute since March 2020. Throughout their career, they have also worked as a Consultant at Chris Barela Design/Calamari Design from 2012 to 2016.

Melissa Bowers, PHR, holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Organization, Learning, and Technology from Texas A&M University-Commerce, which they obtained in 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Organismal Biology at Adams State University in 2007. In addition to their formal education, Melissa has obtained several certifications including a Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from eCornell in 2019, a Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) certification from the Human Capital Institute (HCI) in 2019, a Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2015, and a Professional Education - Human Resources Management Certificate from the University of Utah in 2014.
