Chris Gold

Director, Engineering at Sundberg-Ferar Inc

A hands-on engineer, Chris enjoys building and breaking things apart. He’s passionate about how things work and the power of engineering to influence positive change.

After earning engineering degrees from the University of Michigan, Chris began his career in product development. Over 7 years at Xerox, he learned the rigor required to bring complex electro-mechanical assemblies from concept to production. He also found ways to be creative resulting in 50+ patents in the area of printers and ink-stick design. Curious to broaden his skills, Chris then joined IDEO where he spent the last 10 years leading design teams, creating innovative new products/services, and bringing ideas to life through prototyping. Whether helping Ford create the future of automotive interfaces, or working with a medical device startup to create a state-of-the art robotic surgical tool, Chris thrives on solving problems at the intersection of design and engineering.

When not at work, Chris enjoys woodworking, gardening, and sharing his love of engineering with his two daughters through building interactive electronic toys.
