Mechanical Design Engineer at SunDrive

Albert Chau has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Albert is currently working as a Mechanical Design Engineer at SunDrive since April 2023. Previously, they worked as a Product Developer at IDE Group from January 2022 to April 2023, where they provided design services for biomedical products. At Sydney Metro, they served as an Assistant Systems Integration Engineer from February 2021 to December 2021 and as a Graduate Mechanical Engineer from February 2019 to February 2021, participating in a rotational program.

Albert also founded their own engineering design business called Tarantula Engineering, where they worked as the Chief Engineer from March 2019 to December 2020. Albert has undertaken various projects, including designing a dental medical device testing robot and 3D printing custom products. Additionally, they handled business administration tasks such as graphic design, bookkeeping, and marketing.

In the past, Albert was involved in the UNSW Formula SAE Motorsport Team - Redback Racing, where they held multiple positions. Albert served as the Business Department Lead in 2018, responsible for sponsorships and recruitment. In 2017, they were a Technical Department Head responsible for designing and testing the vehicle chassis, achieving the team's best results in five years. Albert also served as an Arc Delegate and was a member of the Chassis team in 2016 and 2015 respectively.

Furthermore, Albert worked as a Demonstrator at UNSW, where they demonstrated courses under the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from February 2017 to December 2018. Albert provided feedback on designs, graded assessments, and operated manufacturing technologies. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Sorensen Engineering from January 2018 to October 2018, they focused on quality assurance and process improvement in CNC manufacturing.

Lastly, Albert gained coaching experience as a Debating Coach at Sydney Boys High School from February 2014 to September 2018, where they taught and developed lesson plans on various topics for debating teams.

Albert Chau has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from UNSW, which they obtained in 2019. Albert also holds a Graduate Certificate in Economics from the University of Sydney, which they earned in 2020. Additionally, Albert has obtained certifications in Rail Industry Safety Induction from Transport for NSW in May 2019 and in Advanced First Aid from St. John Ambulance in August 2014.
