Tonantzin Esparza began their career in 2003 as a Co-Founding Member of the Latino Theater Company Laboratory. In 2005, they worked as an Associate Producer for the HBO feature film "Walkout". From 2003 to 2007, they served as a Development Executive at Maya Pictures. In 2009, Tonantzin joined Maya Entertainment as the VP of Acquisitions, where they were responsible for content acquisitions, strategic planning, and brand stewardship. Tonantzin also played a key role in launching the international division and procuring co-production opportunities. Tonantzin left Maya Entertainment in 2012. In 2014, they founded JoyLab Media, where they worked as the Founder until 2015. Finally, Tonantzin co-founded Sunhouse, Inc in 2015 and continues to serve as a Co-Founder.

Tonantzin Esparza obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Theater, Film, and TV from UCLA, which they attended from 1998 to 2003. Later, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Business, Entrepreneurship, and Media from New York University, where they studied from 2011 to 2013.
