Georgios Stamatiou

Georgios Stamatiou has extensive experience in research and development within the fields of electrical engineering and energy storage systems. Currently serving as R&D Manager for the Electro-thermal team at Sunlight Group Energy Storage Systems since January 2021, Georgios oversees design and simulation processes for Lithium-ion batteries and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), along with conducting thermal analysis and cell characterization. Prior experience includes roles as Senior R&D Scientist and R&D Scientist at Hitachi Energy, focusing on STATCOM technology, and as an R&D Scientist at ABB, where Georgios worked on power electronics design and integration. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Electric Power Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology, as well as an MSc with distinction from the University of Nottingham and a Dipl.-Ing. from the National Technical University of Athens.
