Mariama White-Hammond is an advisor at Sunwealth Power and a minister for ecological justice. Mariama has dedicated their career to fighting for environmental and economic justice for working class people and communities of color.
Rev. Mariama began their journey as an activist and organizer with Project HIP-HOP, an organization that uses hip-hop culture to engage young people in the social justice movement. Mariama served as the executive director for thirteen years, during which time they helped lead campaigns that had a meaningful impact on the lives of young people in Boston.
In 2014, Rev. Mariama enrolled at Boston University School of Theology to pursue a degree in theology. While a student, they worked as a faith fellow with the Green Justice Coalition, a partnership of community-based environmental and labor allies. In this role, they were responsible for engaging the faith community in the fight for a just transition to a sustainable economy.
Rev. Mariama is currently serving as a minister for ecological justice at Bethel AME Church in Boston. In this role, they are working to raise awareness about the importance of environmental justice and to build support for policies that will protect our planet and its inhabitants.
Mariama White-Hammond is a graduate of Boston University, where they earned their Master of Divinity. Mariama also holds a degree from Stanford University. Mariama is currently a minister at the Bethel AME Church in Boston, Massachusetts.
