Ruud Martens

Ruud Martens has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Ruud is currently working as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Sunweb Group since 2022. Prior to that, they founded Localroast.nl in 2020, a platform that brings together coffee from the best micro-roasters in the Netherlands for consumers and small businesses. Ruud was also a Jury Member at Thuiswinkel.org from 2013 to 2021. In 2019, they founded Roofon BV, aiming to promote clean energy using integrated solar roof tiles. Ruud Martens held various leadership positions at Independer.nl from 1999 to 2017, including the role of CEO. Ruud also took a sabbatical in 1999 to participate in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race as a Watch Leader and worked as the Director of In-Store Banking at EAB in New York from 1995 to 1999. Ruud began their career as a Project Manager for Air Miles at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. in 1991.

Ruud Martens completed their primary and secondary education at Dr Knippenberg College from 1978 to 1984, where they obtained their VWO degree. Later, from 1984 to 1990, they attended Eindhoven University of Technology, earning their Ir. degree in Technische Bedrijfskunde (Technical Business Administration).
