Nasser Malit

Associate Professor Of Anthropology at SUNY Potsdam

Nasser Malit has extensive work experience in the field of paleoanthropology and anthropology. Nasser is currently working as an Associate Professor at the State University of New York College at Potsdam, where their research focuses on the origins of modern humans and the evolution of Homo erectus. Nasser is currently involved in a project to describe a fossil human from Buffalo Springs, Samburu, Kenya.

Prior to their current position, Malit worked as an Assistant Professor and then as an Associate Professor of Anthropology at SUNY Potsdam. Nasser also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the same institution.

Additionally, Malit had significant involvement in the Buffalo Springs Paleontological Project in Kenya, where they served as the Director. Nasser was responsible for studying the geology of the Buffalo Springs depositional environment and investigating the paleontological and archaeological richness of the area.

Malit also worked as a Research Associate at Binghamton University and as a Faunal Analyst/Senior Research Aide at the Public Archeology Facility, Department of Anthropology at SUNY B. Nasser also gained experience as a Collections Manager at the National Museums of Kenya.

Nasser Malit obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from the University of Nairobi, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Following this, they pursued their Master's degree and Ph.D in Biological Anthropology at Binghamton University from 1999 to 2009.
