Adjunct Professor Of Business Administration at SUNY Potsdam

Rick Miller, Ph.D. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of higher education. Rick has held various leadership positions at SUNY Potsdam, including serving as an Adjunct Professor of Business Administration since 2018. Previously, they held the roles of Executive Vice President and Chief Student Affairs Officer, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Enrollment Management, Associate Vice President, and Director of Assessment and Institutional Research. In these roles, they were responsible for overseeing enrollment management, student affairs, institutional effectiveness, undergraduate admissions, financial aid, and other key areas.

Additionally, Dr. Miller served as the Associate Provost for Institutional Research at the State University of New York System Administration from 2012 to 2014. In this role, they had primary responsibility for overseeing institutional research and analysis functions, and also coordinated extensively with SUNY leaders and external agencies.

Prior to that, Dr. Miller served as the Vice President for Campus Life and Dean of Students at Paul Smith's College, where they were responsible for overseeing student affairs divisions and directly supervising areas such as student development, dining operations, campus safety, athletics and recreation, residence life, student activities, health services, facilities/maintenance, and lands.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Miller served as the Dean of Admission at Paul Smith's College of Arts and Science and as the Director of Admissions at SUNY Canton.

Throughout their career, Dr. Miller has demonstrated a strong commitment to higher education and has gained expertise in areas such as enrollment management, student affairs, institutional research, and admissions.

Rick Miller, Ph.D. holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Virginia Tech, which was obtained between 1998 and 2004. Prior to that, they earned an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from St. Lawrence University from 1983 to 1987. Rick's undergraduate education was completed at the State University of New York at Oswego, where they obtained a B.S. in Education from 1978 to 1982. Additionally, they hold a Post Graduate High School Diploma from Northwood School in Lake Placid, NY, which was earned between 1977 and 1978.

In terms of additional certifications, Rick has completed the Brightspace Fundamentals Training Course from the SUNY Center for Professional Development twice in 2022. Rick has also obtained the CITI Human Subjects Research certification, although the specific timeline for this certification is not provided.
