Ernest J. Barthélemy

Ernest J. Barthélemy, MD, MPH, MA, FCNS, serves as the President and Co-Founder of the Society of Haitian Neuroscientists, actively promoting neuroscience and mental health care in Haiti since October 2019. Currently, Barthélemy holds the position of Division Chief of Neurosurgery at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, following a fellowship in neurotrauma at the University of California, San Francisco. With extensive training in neurological surgery, Barthélemy has also been a Chief Resident at Mount Sinai Health System and a Resident Physician at The Mount Sinai Hospital. As a dedicated advocate for Haitian health initiatives, Barthélemy co-founded Medical Students for Haiti, Inc., extending support to Haitian communities and healthcare. Educational qualifications include an MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, an MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and advanced degrees in Applied Physiology and Caribbean Studies.
