Jalisa Williams

College Leadership at SUNY Empire State College

Jalisa Williams, LP.D, MBA, will join us next month as assistant vice president of human resources. Williams has worked in human resources for more than 18 years, and has extensive experience in leadership and mentorship, diverse hiring, and strategic planning, among other areas.

Williams comes to SUNY Empire from Westfield State University in Massachusetts, where she oversaw and led the Office of Human Resources, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity. Prior to that, she was executive director of human resources at SUNY Schenectady County Community College and corporate human resources administrator for the Research Foundation for the State University of New York.

Williams spent many years in New York State government, where she rose through the ranks to become manager of diversity and inclusion and affirmative action officer. Before that, she was senior staffing services administrator, senior recruitment services administrator, coordinator of the Fair Labor Standard Act; and senior classification and compensation analyst.

She holds a doctorate from the School of Law and Policy at Northeastern University and has her bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration from The Sage Colleges.
