Jasper Showers

Jasper Showers is an experienced software engineer with a strong background in web and API development. Jasper has worked in various companies such as Sure, Invitae, Kin + Carta, Ria Financial, and as a self-employed contractor.

At Invitae, Jasper collaborated with an international team on microservice projects, utilizing languages and frameworks such as Python/Django, Go, Kotlin/Java, NodeJS, AWS, K8s, Terraform, and in-house solutions. Jasper took the lead on new projects, conducting research, presentations, and organizing across multiple teams to ensure successful delivery.

During their tenure at Kin + Carta, Jasper served as a Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead, focused on delivering a .NET Core API. Jasper implemented design patterns such as CQRS, vertical slicing, and MediatR.

At Ria Financial, Jasper held the position of Senior Software Engineer and Team Lead. Jasper was responsible for creating a RESTful API from scratch using C# .NET Core, JSON web tokens (JWT), and AWS. Additionally, they ventured into front-end technologies, utilizing the Ionic Framework, Angular, and Redux to build a mobile app consuming the API.

As a self-employed contractor, Jasper worked on a variety of projects, both independently and with a team. Jasper maintained and created new projects for a .NET Web API solution, communicating with clients and solving miscellaneous issues.

Prior to that, Jasper worked as a Senior Web Software Engineer at Ria Financial, where they collaborated with a team to build an ASP.NET Web API. This API connected to an MS SQL database and provided endpoints for international money transfers.

Jasper also has experience in web development, having worked on various projects as a freelancer. Jasper developed websites using open-source platforms on the LAMP stack, including their own personal website, jshowers.com.

In their early career, Jasper worked at PaySimple as a Web Developer, utilizing .NET MVC and the WCF stack to maintain and improve marketing websites and web applications. Jasper worked in an agile environment with daily scrums and three-week release sprints.

Before that, Jasper was a Web Developer at Bridgeline Digital, working independently and on small teams to develop, test, and maintain .NET/SQL Server web applications for clients such as Budget Truck and PODS. Jasper consistently met project deadlines while facing challenges and problem-solving.

Jasper Showers attended the University of Northern Colorado from 2004 to 2006, where they studied Computer Science. Following this, from 2005 to 2009, they enrolled at the Metropolitan State University of Denver and pursued a degree in Computer Science, with a focus on Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics.
