Laurie Sugiarto

Laurie Sugiarto has a diverse work experience in the fields of UX design, product design, service design, and research. Currently, they are employed as a Sr. UX Designer (fte) at Surescripts, a position they started in 2023. Before this role, Laurie established their own company called Laurie Sugiarto Design in 2007. In this role, they have worked on various aspects of design including UX, product, service design, research, strategy, creative direction, and more. Laurie has handled both collaborative projects and managed the entire creative process from concept to production.

Earlier in their career, Laurie worked as a Product Designer (contract) for Alliance Laundry Systems LLC from March 2022 to October 2022. Before that, they served as a UX/UI Designer & Researcher (contract) at Surescripts from August 2020 to March 2022. Laurie also worked as a User Experience Consultant and Assistant Program Leader at the University of Minnesota from December 2019 to January 2020, where they evaluated and presented recommendations to improve the university's study abroad program in Indonesia using UX design research and service design strategies.

Additionally, Laurie worked as a UX Designer (contract) at Medtronic in September 2019 to November 2019, where they guided the user experience and executed design activities for two projects simultaneously. Laurie used their skills in Agile, Lean UX, and Waterfall workflows to design and evaluate experiences and interfaces for a complex, transactional, high-profile, global application. Prior to this, they were a Senior UX Designer (contract) at HealthPartners from February 2019 to June 2019.

Laurie's professional journey also includes being a student of User Experience Design at Prime Digital Academy from March 2018 to July 2018. There, they acquired UX design methodology, skills, practice, and certification through an intensive, immersive, project-based program.

Before entering the field of UX design, Laurie held various positions at The Saint Paul Hotel, starting as a Marketing Manager (MarCom, UX, CX, and Visual Design) in August 2011 and eventually expanding into roles as a UX designer, UX researcher, and content strategist. Laurie worked on multiple projects, including a complete redesign of collateral, business cards, stationery, brochures, and more. Laurie also worked as a Global Project Specialist and Production Artist on a contract basis for Target in 2010, where they managed production projects and acted as a liaison between Target's art team in India and Minneapolis.

Laurie Sugiarto has a diverse education history in various fields of study. The most recent educational experience was from 2020 to 2021 at The Interaction Design Foundation, where they focused on data visualization, dashboard design, and interaction design, although no degree was obtained. In 2018, Laurie attended Prime Digital Academy and earned a User Experience Design Certificate, specializing in UX design and research.

Before that, Laurie attended North Park University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. Laurie'sfield of study at North Park University included art, graphic design, photography, and Swedish. Laurie also pursued graphic design studies at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Laurie further enhanced their Swedish language skills at Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola, which focused on Swedish and liberal arts.

Laurie also studied web design at Minneapolis College, and took courses in marketing and entrepreneurship at Normandale Community College. Additionally, they attended NTNU National Taiwan Normal University's Mandarin Training Center to study Mandarin Chinese. During their time at Minnehaha Academy, Laurie focused on art, French, Swedish, and publications.
