Alex da Silva Curiel has a diverse work experience in the field of satellite technology. Alex started their career in 1987 as a Researcher at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. In 1989, they joined Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. where they worked as a Spacecraft Communication Systems Engineer for a brief period.
At Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd., Alex held several positions including Mission Design and Analysis Manager, Engineering Group Leader, and Head of Research and Development. In these roles, they were responsible for managing engineering teams, coordinating research and development activities, and leading technical proposals for new missions.
In 2005, Alex became the Group Technical Director at Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. In this position, they reported to the SSTL Group CEO and was responsible for group technical strategy and research and development. Alex also supported the Surrey Space Centre with the RAE research assessment in 2007.
Finally, Alex served as the Head of International Business at Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. from 2007 onwards.
Alex da Silva Curiel completed an MSc degree in Satellite Engineering from the University of Surrey in 1990. Prior to that, they obtained a B.Eng (honours) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the same university in 1989.
