Oromyia A.

Oromyia A. is an Outreach Worker at Surrey Schools (School District #36 Surrey) since October 2023 and serves as a Program Lead for the City of Surrey, alongside a role as a Camp Leader at Surrey Nature Center. Oromyia A. is also a Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University, where involvement includes work on the University of Toronto's MiCA project to enhance engagement with the Muslim community in British Columbia. As the University Administration Relations Officer for the SFU Black Caucus Steering Committee, Oromyia A. advocates for Black communities, aiming to reduce anti-Black racism at the university. Experience includes a fellowship with The Canadian-Muslim Vote and an External Relations Officer role for the Student of Caribbean and African Ancestry group. Oromyia A. holds a Bachelor's in Arts and Social Science with a focus on International Studies from Simon Fraser University, expected to graduate in 2026, and completed a Dogwood Degree at Princess Margaret Secondary in 2021.
