Adam Galan

Adam Galan has extensive work experience in the field of chemistry, particularly in medicinal chemistry and synthetic organic chemistry. Adam has worked in various roles and positions throughout their career.

From 2021 to the present, Adam Galan has been employed as the Senior Director of Process Chemistry at Sutro Biopharma, Inc.

From 2011 to 2021, they worked as the Principal at Galan Consulting, where they specialized in designing and managing medicinal chemistry approaches and custom organic synthesis for client's drug discovery programs. Adam also implemented and managed CROs in different countries for various chemistry and biology programs.

From 2012 to 2013, Adam Galan served as the Director of Chemistry at Cyterix Pharmaceuticals. In this role, they focused on designing and synthesizing small-molecule drug conjugates utilizing Cyterix's proprietary OncoCyp platform. Adam also managed CROs for organic synthesis, scale-up, and various chemistry and biology programs.

From 2005 to 2010, they held the position of Principal Scientist in Medicinal Chemistry at Exelixis. During this time, they played a key role in inventing and scaling up kinase inhibitors IND clinical candidates. Adam also supervised the sourcing of raw materials and simplified synthetic routes.

From 2001 to 2005, Adam Galan worked as an Associate Director, Medicinal Chemistry at Exelixis, where they headed the Methods Development group and Discovery Outsourcing. Adam was responsible for designing and evaluating chemical syntheses and preparing technical packages for CROs.

Adam also worked in various roles at Exelixis and MetaXen from 1999 to 2001, where they played a significant part in building compound collections and establishing compound acquisition programs.

Before that, Adam Galan gained experience at Geron and Parke-Davis, where they worked on medicinal chemistry projects in the areas of telomerase inhibitors, cognitive disorders, and stroke.

Adam Galan's education history includes a B.Tech. (Hons) degree in Medicinal, Agricultural and Environment Chemistry from Brunel University London. Adam also holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Bristol. Additionally, they have completed two Postdoctoral positions, one in Organic Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and another in Organic Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh.
