Jifa Zhang, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in the field of biopharmaceuticals and proteomics. They currently hold the position of Associate Scientist at Sutro Biopharma, Inc. since 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology from July 2021 to August 2022. During this time, their research focused on studying the targeted degradation of 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA Reductase (HMGCR) using PROTAC and proteomics-based approaches. They designed and synthesized two PROTAC probes and evaluated their effectiveness in downregulating HMGCR using mass spectrometry.
Before their postdoctoral work, Jifa Zhang was involved in research and teaching roles at Purdue University. From January 2021 to May 2021, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant where they investigated the collision-activated dissociation mechanisms of deprotonated lignin model compounds using tandem mass spectrometry. They studied the formation and degradation of key analytes during the organosolv process and identified important fragmentation pathways for deprotonated lignin model compounds with specific linkages. Prior to this, from August 2016 to December 2020, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, providing assistance in teaching activities.
Overall, Jifa Zhang, Ph.D. has gained experience in biopharmaceutical research, proteomics, and mass spectrometry through their various roles and contributions to academic and industrial institutions.
Jifa Zhang, Ph.D. obtained a Doctor's Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Purdue University between 2016 and 2021. Prior to this, they completed a Master's degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Peking Union Medical College from 2013 to 2016. Their education journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Shandong University, which they earned between 2009 and 2013.
