Philip Milstead

Philip Milstead has a diverse work experience in the field of geology. Philip currently holds the position of Chief Geoscientist at Sval Energi, starting in June 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Spirit Energy from 2017 to 2022, where they served as a Geological Technical Authority and later as a Senior Geologist. From 2011 to 2017, Philip was employed at Centrica Energy as a Senior Geologist, where they were involved in near-field exploration and discovery development geoscience work, exploration well planning, and post-well analysis.

Before joining Centrica Energy, Philip worked at AGR Petroleum Services as a Geologist from 2010 to 2011. Philip also gained valuable experience at Shell, where they held multiple roles. From 2007 to 2010, they worked as a Geologist, focusing on production geology and operations geology for projects such as Shearwater Field and Ormen Lange. Prior to this, Philip completed a Production Geology Internship at Shell in 2007. Philip began their career in the industry with an Exploration Geologist Internship at Rio Tinto Diamonds in 2006.

In addition, Philip worked as a Geological Research Assistant at GeoPressure Technology (part of Ikon Science) in 2005, where they conducted research on salinity variations across the Central North Sea.

Philip Milstead completed their MSci in Geoscience at Durham University from 2002 to 2006. Philip later pursued an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience at Imperial College London from 2006 to 2007.
