Brittany Auten has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Brittany began their career as an intern at the Blowing Rock Tourism Development Authority in 2009. Following this, Auten joined the Holiday Inn Express as a Front Office Manager, where they managed the conversion and remodeling of a Days Inn to an award-winning hotel. Brittany worked at the Holiday Inn Express from September 2009 to October 2011. Auten then transitioned to Courtyard by Marriott Boone as an Assistant General Manager, responsible for hiring, training, and managing staff, as well as managing budgets and supplies. Brittany opened a new property in January 2012 and held this position until December 2012. Auten continued their career at Courtyard by Marriott as an Assistant General Manager, overseeing various departments and coordinating services for groups. Brittany held this role from April 2013 to May 2015. Auten then joined Choice Hotels International as a General Manager, where they worked from May 2015 to October 2018. Brittany is currently working at SWCA Environmental Consultants, where they hold the position of Business Development Coordinator. Auten joined the company in October 2019 and is responsible for coordinating business development activities.

Brittany Auten received their Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Appalachian State University, where they attended from 2004 to 2009. In 2017, they went on to pursue a Master of Science in Technology, with a focus on Building Science and Appropriate Technology, at the same university. Brittany completed their master's degree in 2019.
