Joe Phillipson

Joe Phillipson has worked in various roles in the field of ecology since 2012. Joe's most recent job is as an Algae Researcher at the Swedish Algae Factory since 2021. Prior to this, they were a Vogelringer at Grosshamns Fågelstation in 2020. In 2018, they worked as a Fietsgids at YellowBike, responsible for orderly guiding of tourists and day-trippers on bicycles, providing informative and educational information about the history, culture, and nature of Amsterdam, and ensuring orderly and safe traffic situations. In 2017, they worked as a Badmeester at Vereniging Flevoparkbad, where they were responsible for overseeing the swimming pool, ensuring safety, and providing first aid if necessary. From 2015 to 2017, Joe worked at Eigen Haard as a Uitzendkracht Administratie, and at NEMO as a Uitzendkracht Publieksbegeleider. In 2012, they were a PR-Medewerker at CAH Vilentum Hogeschool, responsible for promoting the HBO courses and providing information at open days and education fairs. In 2013, Joe was a Stagiair Ecologie at both Wageningen Marine Research and Umeå University. At Wageningen Marine Research, they helped with research into the Saba Bank, the largest atoll reef in the Caribbean Sea, while at Umeå University, they assisted with research into the effects of Dissolved Organic Carbon on fish populations. In 2012, they were also a Stagiair Ecologie at Rijkswaterstaat, researching the effects of the compensation area for Maasvlakte 2, analyzing fish otoliths from four years of Aalscholverbraakballen.
