Project Manager - Plant Research and Development at SweGreen

Laurens P. has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as an Industrial PhD Student at Mälardalen University, where they are conducting research on reducing costs, optimizing energy consumption, and increasing sustainability in food production. They are also working as a Project Manager - Plant Research and Development at SweGreen, focusing on plant optimization, introducing novel crops, and monitoring plant stress. In addition, Laurens has served as a Field Manager & Board Member at Alnarp's Farm, overseeing day-to-day operations and crop management. Laurens P. began their education in 2007 at Maartenscollege Haren, where they completed their Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (Pre-University education) in the field of Natuur & Techniek (Science & Technology) until 2013. During this time, Laurens also pursued the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme with a focus on Bilingual Education.

In 2013, Laurens enrolled at the University of Groningen and completed a propadeutic year in History. The following year, they continued their studies at the same university, completing another propadeutic year, this time in Artificial Intelligence.

From 2017 to 2020, Laurens attended Mid Sweden University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science. Building on their undergraduate studies, Laurens decided to further their education and enrolled at SLU - Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 2021. They are currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Horticultural Science, which is expected to be completed in 2023.

In 2023, Laurens also attended Wageningen University & Research, where they completed a course in Vertical Farming, focusing on Plant Physiology.
